Robomotion vs UiPath vs Power Automate: Which RPA Platform Fits a Small or Mid-Sized Team?
All three can log in to a portal, download a PDF, and type the numbers into another system while nobody is watching. They differ in what you pay to run a bot unattended, which operating systems the bot runs on, how much you depend on one vendor's ecosystem, and who can realistically maintain it. I build on all three for clients. Here is how I choose, with each vendor's own published prices.

The short answer
- Power Automate if your company lives in Microsoft 365, your bots run on Windows, and most of the work touches Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams.
- UiPath if you are a larger organisation that needs enterprise governance, already has UiPath, or has a budget negotiated with their sales team.
- Robomotion if you are a small or mid-sized business that wants unattended bots at a published monthly price, robots on Windows, Linux, or macOS, and AI agents built into the same tool.
1. What one unattended bot costs
Comparing "starting prices" is misleading, because entry plans rarely include an unattended robot. The fair question is: what is the cheapest published way to run one bot on a schedule, with nobody at the keyboard?
| Platform | Unattended option | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| Robomotion | Pro plan, which includes 1 Production Robot (plus 3 Development and 5 Application Robots) | $129/month; extra Production Robots $99/month |
| Power Automate | Process plan, one unattended bot on your machine; Hosted Process runs on a Microsoft-managed VM | $150/bot/month or $215/bot/month, paid yearly |
| UiPath | Basic (up to 2 robots, limited scale); Standard and Enterprise for real scale | Basic "starting at $25 per month"; Standard and Enterprise via sales |
Sources: Robomotion pricing, Power Automate pricing, UiPath pricing, all checked October 2026. UiPath's page also says Basic "is evolving" with an updated offering coming, and Microsoft notes its prices vary by region. Treat every number as a starting point for your own quote.
The Power Automate figure is per bot, on top of user licensing, and Microsoft's own footnote says a bot runs one unattended desktop flow at a time. Robomotion has the same one-flow-at-a-time rule per robot. In both, parallel work means more robots.
2. Where the bot can run
This one is underrated. Power Automate desktop flows run on Windows. Robomotion's getting-started guide lists robots for Windows, macOS, Linux, or a Raspberry Pi, with setup guides for Windows and Linux VPS servers. A browser-only bot on a cheap Linux server is a real cost saving over a Windows VM, multiplied by every robot you run.
Robomotion robots also need no inbound network access: the deployment docs say a robot opens an outbound TLS connection and keeps it open, so you do not punch holes in a firewall. For organisations that need everything in-house, Robomotion offers Private Cloud and On-Prem in addition to its Cloud.
3. How bots are built and maintained
Robomotion
A browser-based visual Flow Designer with JavaScript for custom logic, an AI Assistant that drafts flows from a description, and a library of over 250 templates. Credentials are encrypted in your browser with AES-256 before upload, per its security model. Lightweight to learn; a developer comfortable with JavaScript is productive fast.
UiPath
The most mature tooling and the largest ecosystem of certified developers, with strong governance for big automation programmes. The trade-off is weight: more components to license, run, and learn than a small team usually needs.
Power Automate
Cloud flows and desktop flows side by side, with first-class Microsoft 365 connectors. Unbeatable inside the Microsoft world; less comfortable when most of the work is in non-Microsoft web portals.
4. AI agents
All three vendors now sell "agentic automation". Robomotion's take is practical for small teams: its AI agent docs list LLM packages for Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, and Ollama for local models, plus agent nodes, MCP support, and a Knowledge Base for grounding answers in your documents. Agents can call your existing flows as tools. I cover how to use that safely in agentic RPA with Robomotion.
5. A decision checklist
- Already paying for one? Start there. Switching platforms has to beat a cost you are already paying.
- Mostly Outlook, SharePoint, Excel? Power Automate.
- Mostly third-party web portals and PDFs? Robomotion or UiPath; Robomotion if you want published monthly pricing and Linux robots.
- Dozens of bots, audit committees, a CoE? UiPath.
- Purely web, high volume, developer on staff? Consider code-first Playwright as well; no licence at all, but you own all the plumbing.
6. Thinking of switching from UiPath?
Robomotion's homepage advertises free migration from UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism. Take them up on the conversation, but plan the migration as a rebuild, not a copy: inventory which bots still earn their keep, retire the rest, and redesign the survivors with proper error handling and alerts. Migration is the cheapest moment to fix the fragile parts of an old bot. Run old and new in parallel on real data for a week before switching off the original.
Want a recommendation for your processes?
Tell me which systems the bot must touch, how often it runs, and what you already pay for. I will recommend a platform honestly, even if it is the one you already have, and estimate cost and payback. See my RPA development service and Robomotion pricing explained.

Is Robomotion cheaper than UiPath?
For small teams, usually yes on published prices. Robomotion's Pro plan at $129 a month includes one Production Robot for unattended work. UiPath's Basic plan starts at $25 a month but is limited to two robots and limited scale, and Standard and Enterprise are priced through sales. Compare quotes for your actual robot count.
Is Robomotion cheaper than Power Automate for unattended RPA?
Microsoft lists Power Automate Process at $150 per bot per month paid yearly, and Hosted Process at $215. Robomotion Pro is $129 a month including one Production Robot, with extra Production Robots at $99. Power Automate can still be the better value if you already pay for Microsoft 365 and the work is mostly in Microsoft apps.
Can Robomotion robots run on Linux or Mac?
Yes. Robomotion's documentation lists robots for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi. Power Automate desktop flows run on Windows.
Should we migrate from UiPath to Robomotion?
Only if the savings or flexibility outweigh the migration effort. Robomotion advertises free migration from UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism. Treat it as a rebuild: keep only the bots that still earn their keep, improve their error handling, and run old and new in parallel before switching.
