monday.com Formula Builder
Generate ready-to-paste monday.com Formula column formulas for due dates, working days, overdue flags, budgets, percent complete, and status scores, using your own column names.
Column names must match your board exactly, including capitals and spaces. Paste the formula into a Formula column (Add column → Formula). Formula columns are not on every monday.com plan, so check yours.
About this tool
monday.com's Formula column is powerful, but its syntax trips people up: which date goes first in DAYS, how to wrap ADD_DAYS so it shows as a date, how to stop a percentage from erroring when the total is zero. Pick what you want the column to show, type your board's column names, and the builder writes a working formula with a plain-English explanation.
Recipes cover the formulas teams ask for most: days and working days between dates, days left until a deadline, an overdue flag that ignores finished items, a date plus N days or working days, percent complete, budget remaining, numeric scores from status labels, line totals with discounts, and joining text columns.
Common uses
- Add an overdue flag to a project board without learning formula syntax
- Calculate working days between a start and end date for resourcing
- Turn priority or status labels into numbers you can sort and total
Frequently asked questions
How do I reference a column in a monday.com formula?
Wrap the column's exact name in curly braces, for example {Due Date}. The name must match the board, including capital letters and spaces. Inside the formula editor you can also click a column in the list to insert it.
Can automations use the result of a formula column?
Not directly: monday.com automations cannot trigger from formula column changes. The usual workaround is an integration or a small n8n or Make workflow that reads the formula value through the API and writes it into a regular column that automations can watch.
Why does my DAYS formula return a negative number?
DAYS subtracts the second date from the first, so put the later date first: DAYS({End Date}, {Start Date}). A negative "days left" result simply means the deadline has passed.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so nothing you type is transmitted, logged, or stored anywhere. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.
