About this tool
Scan a QR code two ways: upload an image that contains one, or use your device's camera for a live scan. Either way, the decoded text appears instantly — and if it looks like a URL, it is shown as a normal clickable link rather than opened automatically, so you stay in control of where you go.
This is the mirror image of the site's QR Code Generator: instead of encoding text into a code, it reads a code back into text. Camera scanning requires HTTPS (or localhost) per browser security rules, and the camera stream is released as soon as you stop scanning or leave the page.

Does scanning upload my image or camera feed anywhere?
No. Both the uploaded image and the live camera feed are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
Why won't the camera option work?
Camera access requires a secure context (HTTPS or localhost) and your explicit permission grant. If it still fails, check that no other app is already using the camera and that your browser's site permissions allow camera access.
Does it auto-open links it decodes?
No — a decoded URL is shown as a plain clickable link you choose to open yourself; nothing navigates automatically.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — nothing you type is transmitted, logged, or stored anywhere. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.
