About this tool
Generate a QR code from plain text or a URL, or switch to a dedicated mode for Wi-Fi credentials, a contact card (vCard), a pre-filled email, an SMS, or a phone number, each builds the correctly formatted payload automatically instead of you having to know the underlying format. Choose the size, error-correction level, and foreground/background colors, then download as PNG or SVG, or copy the image directly.
Generation happens entirely in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere. Higher error-correction levels keep codes scannable when partially covered or printed small, at the cost of a denser-looking code; a live contrast check warns you if your chosen colors are too close together to scan reliably.
Common uses
- Link printed materials (menus, flyers, business cards) to a website
- Share Wi-Fi credentials with guests as a scan-to-join code, no typing required
- Put a contact card on a business card or badge that saves straight to a phone
Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes expire?
The code itself never expires. It is just encoded text. If it encodes a URL, it works exactly as long as that URL keeps working.
What does the error-correction level change?
It adds redundancy so damaged or obscured codes still scan: L survives ~7% damage, M ~15%, Q ~25%, and H ~30%. Higher levels make the code denser.
Will a Wi-Fi QR code work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both platforms' native camera apps recognize the standard WIFI: format this tool generates and offer to join the network directly, no app required.
Can I use custom colors and still have it scan reliably?
Yes, within reason. Scanners need strong contrast between the foreground and background to distinguish the modules. This tool warns you if your chosen colors fall below a safe contrast ratio; when in doubt, keep the background lighter than the foreground.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so nothing you type is transmitted, logged, or stored anywhere. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.
